those at risk of foreclosure. obama signed the home affordable refinance program in 2010. locally we've done many things. in january 2008, this board of supervisors established a san francisco fair lending working group, with its number one policy recommendation of whenever possible, home ownership should be preserved and foreclosure prevented. this promotes family stability in our neighborhoods and community. second of all, the goal of this legislation was to provide security for tenants in t.i.c. buildings. supervisor wiener as coauthor want to ensure that tenants in t.i.c. buildings which might take advantage of this legislation will be presented. we wanted to provide the greatest security possible for existing tenants to be secure in their units and our legislation has done exactly that. let me specifically address this to many of the people in the hallway that seem to be misinformed about this legislation. if you are a tenant in a building that elects to take advantage of this legislation, you will receive a rent controlled lifetime lease in that building. you will not be evi

murdered with guns during president obama's final four years in office it is estimated that 40,000 americans will be killed with guns, the same amount of people killed in vietnam. says the shooting in arizona which killed six people including a nine-year-old and seriously injured than congresswoman-- as the city we should continue to lead the way to advocate for and pass policies that protect the general well-being of the society. today i am introducing two resolutions, supporting senator dianne feinstein's assault weapon legislation; and a resolution supporting the sandy hook promise, born out of the event that killed those 20 children, four teachers and two other distribution. assault weapons have been used in at least 459 incidents across the country. this resolution simply states adamant support for senator and feinstein's assault weapon regulatory act; affirms our support for gun-control and affirms protection for gun owners grandfathering the legal protections they had before. one month after the tragic shooting in sandy hook elementary -- we are committed to preventing trage

, reacting to this national tragedy that i think president obama has adequately described as broken all of our hearts, and in every funeral that has taken place, for those 20 innocent children and six innocent adults in the school districts, and school administrators, we obviously have shared in that very tragic event, all of us. it has touched everybody across this country. san francisco is no different. and i have shared that emotional experience with the supervisor and everybody here, in our law enforcement, and in our health department as well. the question for us, then, is what do we do about it? and not only can we share in this tragedy and signal our sympathies to the families as we've done, but we've got to do something more. and this is where i want to make sure i recognize all of the people that are in that effort of doing something about it, including the officials in san francisco. and some have been at this longer than others to try to do something about it, have reached limitations. yet again, i think this tragedy at sandy hook reminds us that we've got to keep trying and we'
